Restoring an Old Swimming Pool

Last year, I purchased a wonderful property which was located in an old town just south of Sydney. The property had been constructed in the 1920s and still looked absolutely wonderful. However, the pool had not been used for many years and it was in a very bad condition. The concrete was cracked and chipped, and weeds had grown up and pressed through the cracks in the pool surface. I called in a pool contractor who assessed the condition of the pool and then carried out renovation work. I am really pleased with the work and I learnt lots of cool things about looking after my pool.

Glass Pool Fence: How to Maintain Your Frameless Gate

The gate is an essential component of your frameless glass pool fence. If the gate does not perform as expected, the installed barrier will be easy to infiltrate. Consequently, your children, pets and other vulnerable family members could end up in the pool area. Therefore, you should dedicate time for the assessment and maintenance of the frameless glass gate. Regular checkups and adjustments will ensure optimal performance of the safety barrier. Here are some practical guidelines on maintaining the gate attached to your frameless glass pool fence.

Adjust the Support Posts The gate can fall out of its ideal alignment due to the stress of daily usage. Also, if a person hangs or leans on the glass panel, the position of the gate might change due to the mechanical strain. A misaligned gate will not lock correctly because the latch will not be in the proper position. If you notice this problem in your home, you should adjust the supporting posts. Frameless glass gates have adjustable brackets. Therefore, you will only need to change the attachment screw to a different slot in the bracket to achieve ideal alignment.

Correct the Hinge Tension Proper tensioning of the hinges is critical for the correct closure of the pool fence gate. If the hinges have the correct tension, the glass gate should swing automatically and close. This aspect is critical for the safety of your family. Therefore, you should check the tension regularly to avoid leaving the gate accidentally open. To make the tension adjustment, you should use a cross-recess screwdriver to remove the caps over the hinges. Then, you should depress and fix the internal adjuster in the hinges using a flathead screwdriver.

Maintain the Latch The latch at your gate might not be working as expected due to poor alignment of the locking components. Therefore, you should check this element regularly to ensure that there is no problem with the lock. If the lock body is not connecting properly, you should adjust the striker and the latch. Typically, you can adjust the striker horizontally and the latch vertically. Therefore, you can resolve most common closure problems with ease. It is also advisable to lubricate the key lock section of the gate. This practice will keep the internal mechanism mobile, and the lock will work optimally.  If you cannot identify the cause of the gate locking problems in your frameless glass pool fencing system, you should consult an experienced pool fencing contractor to troubleshoot and repair the feature.
